Contract Using Direct Assistance
- An immunization Grantee may use grant funds to contract for products and services.
- The grant funds that are used for direct assistance go directly from CDC to the contractor and not through the Grantee.
- Vendors are selected by the government through a competitive process and their products and services are catalogued.
NIP's Goals for Contracting
- To facilitate the development of IIS.
- To provide contract management and expertise to immunization Grantees regarding IIS development.
- To assist immunization Grantees with efficient and timely procurement of goods and services.
- To provide immunization Grantees with reliable alternative sources for needed products and services.
Why Use Direct Assistance
- To expedite the procurement of goods and services by immunization Grantees.
- To allow Grantees to access large government contracts giving them the opportunity to take advantage of volume pricing which can help reduce their costs.
How Immunization Grantees Access Contracts
- Contact the NIP Program Consultant for your Grantee area and request information about these contracts.
- The consultant will discuss general grant budget issues with you and refer you to the Contracts Management Team to initiate the contracting process.
