Forest Fuel Management
Issue: Forest treatments, including prescribed burning, are planned to reduce wildfire hazards. However, these activities affect other important values, including air quality, water quality, and wildlife habitat.
Research will examine effects of primary current forest management practices, with emphasis on fuel treatments (e.g., controlled burns, mechanical thinning, mastication, biomass removal, etc.) on forest health, wildlife, water quality, air quality, and other values at the site and basin scales.
