Subject: Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) Open Season: Delayed Shipment of the 2000 Guide to Federal Employees Health Benefit Plans

We have experienced considerable delays in getting the 2000 Guide to Federal Employees Health Benefit Plans typeset. This will create delays in printing, shipping and delivery of the Guides to your agency distribution points.

We expect the printer to ship the following guides by Friday, October 22, 1999. You may expect delivery shortly thereafter. Please adjust your plans for internal distribution accordingly.

2000 Guide to FEHB Plans for Federal Civilian Employees (RI 70-1);
2000 Guide to FEHB Plans for TCC and Former Spouses (RI 70-5);
2000 Guide to FEHB Plans for Certain Temporary Employees (RI 70-8);
2000 Guide to FEHB Plans for Federal Civilian Employees in Large Print (RI 70-10)

We expect the printer to deliver the following guides by October 22, 1999:

2000 Guide to FEHB Plans for Individuals Receiving Compensation from OWCP (RI 70-6);
2000 Guide to FEHB Plans for Federal Retirees and their Survivors (RI 70-9)

All the Guides will be available on our web site (www.opm.gov/insure) on November 1, 1999 and may be viewed or printed to hard copy.

We sincerely regret any problems the delay may cause. We understand that you may wish to exercise your authority to accept belated open season elections. However, we urge you to be aware of the importance of getting ID cards to enrollees before the beginning of the new contract year.

Thanks for your help and cooperation.
