Plant: erect, perennial, 4"-16" tall forb shrubby at the bottom, forming mats
Flower: head yellowish; inflorescence branched clusters; blooms July-Sept.
Fruit:dry seed, narrowing towards the base amd with a truncated top
Leaf:alternate, silky, silvery, numerous, clustered at the base, 2-3 times 3-parted into linear lobes
Habitat: sun; dry; prairies, cliffs
