Spending patterns of families receiving public assistance

Expenditures of families receiving assistance vary widely, depending on the employment status of adults, the marital status of the household head, and the presence of children. This article examines how households that receive public assistance spend their income, as well as how employment and demographic characteristics of these families are related to their expenditure levels.
