No. 97-030 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Thursday, February 20, 1997)
The staff of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will meet with officials from the Department of Energy (DOE) February 25 in Rockville, Md., to discuss a DOE proposal to produce tritium in commercial light water reactors. Following a 90-minute technical presentation by the DOE and comments by the NRC staff, members of the public will be provided an opportunity to ask questions and offer comments.
The meeting will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the auditorium located within the Two White Flint North Building, 11555 Rockville Pike.
Members of the public who are interested in presenting comments about the DOE proposal will be able to sign up at the meeting. Time allotted for presentations by members of the public will be determined based upon the number of requests received. Other aspects of the meeting, are described in a Notice of Meeting published in the January 27 edition of the Federal Register.
