SUBJECT: Disposition of Certain Aircraft Seizure Cases
1. PURPOSE. This directive delegates to the Commissioner, United States Customs Service, authority to remit or mitigate forfeitures of aircraft valued at not more than $500,000, seized pursuant to the provisions of 49 U.S.C. App. 1472.
2. DELEGATION. This directive delegates authority to the Commissioner, United States Customs Service, to remit or mitigate forfeitures of aircraft valued at not more than $500,000, which are seized by the Customs Service under the provisions of 49 U.S.C. App. 1472(b)(3), because they are in violation of Federal Aviation Administration aircraft registration, certificate or marking requirements as delineated in 49 U.S.C. App. 1472(b)(1).
3. REDELEGATION. The authority delegated by this directive may be redelegated.
