Funding from the SFWMD (C-10719), the U.S. Gelogical Survey (USGS) Greater Everglades Priority Ecosystem Science Initiative, and the USGS National Research Program is gratefully acknowledged. The efforts of Gene Shinn, Chris Reich, and Don Hickey (USGS, St. Petersburg) in constructing the wells used in this study are especially appreciated. Also appreciated is the effort of Bob Mooney (USGS, Miami), who performed the seepage meter work for the study as well as some of the bail tests in piezometers installed in the peat. Thanks are also extended to Cynthia Gefvert (now at SFWMD), Jessica Newlin (USGS, Reston), and Heidi Bazell (SFWMD) for their assistance in many important phases of field data collection and (or) data analysis. Ed German (USGS, Altamonte Springs) provided the precipitation data.
