Overview
Heart disease and stroke
are epidemic in the United States and elsewhere.1,2 In the next
two decades, these largely preventable conditions are projected to increase
sharply in numbers as this country's "baby boom" generation ages.3,4
The message is urgent—action is needed now to reverse the epidemic of heart
disease and stroke.
