October 29 - November 4 in Area Weather History

Oct 29:  A storm system brought 3 to 5 inches of snow across much of the Nebraska
               panhandle on this day in 1969, with 6.1 inches recorded in Scottsbluff.     

               5.7 inches of snow fell in Cheyenne on this day in 1926, while on this day in
               1923, Chadron was covered with 9.5 inches of snow.


 

Oct 30:  A strong arctic cold front moved across the region on this day in 1991.  Scottsbluff
               equaled their record for the earliest below zero temperature recorded with a low of
               1 degree below zero.  Scottsbluff also fell below zero for the first time in Fall on this
               date in 1925 with a low of 3 below zero.


 

               6.0 inches of snow fell in Scottsbluff on this day in 2002.

Oct 31:  The 1991 arctic front brought the coldest October temperature on record to
               Scottsbluff on this date with a low of 6 degrees below zero.  Lows of 8 degrees
               below zero were recorded in Alliance, Lusk and Harrison, while Laramie was
               chilled to 9 degrees below zero. 


 

Nov  1:  The earliest below zero temperature on record for Sidney, Nebraska was recorded
              on this day in 2002 with a low of 2 degrees below zero. 

Nov  2:  Kimball, Nebraska matched their record earliest below zero temperature in Fall
              on this day in 1991 with a low of 2 degrees below zero.  The other time was on this
              day in 1951 with a low of 7 below zero.


 

              9.9 inches of snow blanketed Cheyenne on this day in 1973, while 7.4 inches of
              snow fell in Scottsbluff on this day in 1998.


 

Nov  3:  A winter storm produced a foot of snow in Alliance on this day in 1973, while
              leaving 6.2 inches in Scottsbluff.  The storm produced a two day total of 14.4 inches
              in Cheyenne and 10.1 inches in Scottsbluff.


Nov  4:  On this day in 1960 a winter storm system brought 3 to 6 inches of snow across the
               lower elevations of Carbon and Albany counties, while producing around a foot of
               snow over and close to the mountains.  11.0 inches of snow was recorded near
               Wheatland, while 14 inches fell at Elk Mountain, Wyoming.
