Aug 6: On this day in 1993 a severe thunderstorm produced hail from 1 to 1.75 inches in
diameter in and around Scottsbluff. Also on this day in 1981, hail up to 4 inches
in diameter fell from a severe storm near Pine Bluffs,
Aug 7: Scottsbluff recorded its greatest daily rainfall amount for the month of August on
this day in 1915 when 2.30 inches of rain fell onto the town.
Aug 8: Unusually cool temperatures were recorded over parts of southern
this day in 1996. Lows of 36 degrees were recorded at
Basin, while
Aug 9: Thunderstorms brought heavy rains to some areas on this day in 1968. 3.18
inches of rain fell near
with 2.18 inches of rain.
Aug 10: On this day in 1998 lightning killed a hiker in the
temperature for the month of August with a high of 96 degrees.
Aug 11: On this day in 1989 rainfall up to 4.5 inches produced flooding in Scottsbluff.
The heavy rains collapsed the roof of a business and flooded some streets with
up to 3 feet of water.
Aug 12: A surge of unseasonably cool air brought record lows to many areas of the region
on this day in 2004. Shirley Basin, Wyoming was chilled to 30 degrees while
other areas reached the lower 40s.
