Strong Winds

An unusually intense storm system for this time of year will be centered over South Dakota today.  The storm will produce very strong winds over much of southeast Wyoming and the western Nebraska panhandle through this afternoon.  A High Wind Warning is in effect for the Laramie Range and nearby areas of Platte and Laramie Counties...including Cheyenne and Wheatland.  A High Wind Warning is also in effect for the rest of southeast Wyoming east of the Laramie Range and the Western Nebraska Panhandle.  Winds will gust as high as 70 MPH in the lower elevations and 75 MPH over the Laramie Range this morning.  There are some indications that the winds will subside some as Thursday afternoon goes on.  The winds will cause hazardous travel for lightweight and high profile vehicles, and it will cause localized areas of blowing dust near recently plowed areas.  Some trees and branches are likely to be blown down by the strong winds.
