This Week (April 30–May 6) in Regional Weather History

Apr. 30: A moist spring storm system brought 1.62 inches of rain to Cheyenne on
               this day in 1999.  

               On this day in 1992, Cheyenne set its all-time warmest temperature for
               April with a high of 83 degrees.

               A 2-day winter storm system came to an end across the region on this day
               in 1911.  Snowfall totals included 17 inches at Alliance, Nebraska, 16.3
               inches at Scottsbluff, and 10 inches in Cheyenne.

                     
May  1:  On this day in 1954, the temperature only reached 31 degrees in Scottsbluff.
               This still stands as the latest day in spring that the temperature remained
               below freezing in Scottsbluff.

               Scottsbluff also recorded its coldest May temperature ever on this day in
               1898 with a low of 12 degrees.

               Cheyenne recorded a nice 1.49 inches of rain on this day in 1977.              

May  2:  On this day in 1942, Cheyenne recorded its greatest daily precipitation for
               May with 2.00 inches.  14 inches of snow also fell on that day.                                                      

May  3:  Cheyenne recorded its coldest May temperature on record on this day in
               1907 with a low of only 8 degrees.               

May  4:  A late season winter storm brought heavy snow to the region on this day in
               1908, with Cheyenne recording 9.0 inches, Kimball 6.0 inches, with 5.0
               inches in Scottsbluff.            

May  5:  A very moist system began to affect the region on this day in 1978.
               Temperatures in Cheyenne were cold enough that by the end of the day, 7.2
               inches of snow had fallen.

May  6:  The 1978 storm produced an additional 11.1 inches of snow in Cheyenne
               on this day.  Total snowfall in Cheyenne was 18.3 inches which remains
               Cheyennes greatest May snowstorm on record.
