This Week (April 16-22) in Regional Weather History

Apr. 16: A modest winter storm brought 5.6 inches of snow to Laramie on this day in
               1968, while Rawlins received 3.6 inches.  Also on this day in 1940, 7.0 inches
               of snow fell onto Chadron, Nebraska.
                       
Apr. 17: On this day in 1986, 5.7 inches of snow fell in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, while in
               1944, 7.0 inches of snow was recorded in Kimball. 

               A strong winter storm ensued over the region on this day in 1920, and lasted
               for nearly 4 days.  Cheyenne received 6.5 inches of snow by the end of the day,
               with much more to come.             

Apr. 18: A wind gust of 72 mph was recorded in Cheyenne on this day in 1978. 

               7 more inches of snow fell in Cheyenne on this day in 1920, while 12 inches
               of snow fell in Chadron.                                                       

Apr. 19: A winter storm dropped 13.0 of snow on Douglas, Wyoming on this day in
               1973.               

Apr. 20: The 1920 winter storm came to an end.  Total storm snowfalls over the 3 to 4 day
               time period included 18.5 inches in Cheyenne, 11.9 inches in Scottsbluff, and
               26.0 inches in Chadron, Nebraska.

               An unusually strong cold surge occurred on this day in 1966, bringing the latest
               below zero temperatures on record to many areas.  Rawlins was chilled to 8 degrees
               below zero, while Cheyenne and Laramie recorded lows of -2.  Scottsbluff also
               recorded its latest below zero temperature with a low of -3.            

Apr. 21: Cheyenne recorded its earliest 80 degree temperatures ever on this day in 1989, as
               well as 1960.  Also on this date in 1977, Cheyenne recorded it earliest last freeze
               on record.

               Laramie, Wyoming saw an impressive 18.1 inches of snow fall there on this day
               in 1983.

Apr. 22: 1.91 inches of precipitation fell in Cheyenne on this day in 1923, with 11.5 inches
               of snow included.  Also on this date in 1909, 10.5 inches of snow fell in Cheyenne.
