November 2005 through January 2006 was unusually windy
Even by Cheyenne standards, it has been rather windy the past three months. As you can see from the graph, the November 2005-January 2006 period was the windiest since the 1996-1997 season and the third windiest in the past sixteen years. The November 2005-January 2006 period was the 10th windiest of the past 40 years.
The climatological average wind speed at Cheyenne for November through January is 14.4 mph. Prior to this year, the past eight November-January periods were less windy than the climatological average.
