Jan. 22:   It does not snow often in Cheyenne on this day.  In 1982,
                      Cheyenne
received 1.9 inches of snow, the greatest ever
                       recorded for today.  It was also only the 4th  time with
                 snowfall of 1 inch or more recorded for this day.

Jan. 23: Today is Cheyennes least likely day in winter to see 1 or more
                inches of snow.  On this day in 1909, two inches of snow fell in
                Cheyenne, and in 1946, one inch was recorded.  These are the
                only 2 times that 1 inch or more snow has been recorded on this
                day in Cheyenne since 1883.

Jan. 24: On this day in 1921 Cheyenne received its greatest daily
    snowfall in January with 14.1 inches of snow, while Scottsbluff,
    Nebraska
saw its second highest daily snowfall for January
    with 8.5 inches.  Alliance, Nebraska saw its highest daily
    snowfall for January fall on this date in 1898, with 14.0 inches.

                 Strong winds buffeted the area on this day in 1971, with a
                peak gust of 74 mph
recorded in Cheyenne.

Jan. 25: On this date in 1950, 11 inches of snow fell onto Sidney,
    Nebraska
, setting their highest daily snowfall record for
    January.  Also on this date in 1980, 12 inches of snow was
    recorded in Cheyenne, the 3rd highest daily snowfall in
    January.  Chadron, Nebraska received 13 inches of snow
    on this date in 1944, setting Chadrons 2nd highest daily
    snowfall in January.

Jan. 26: On this date in 1940, the low in Cheyenne was 6 degrees
    below zero.  This was the last of 10 consecutive days with
    a daily low below zero…which still stands as the longest
    streak ever recorded in Cheyenne.

Jan. 27: On this date in 1980, Laramie Wy. had its highest daily
    snowfall in January since 1948, with 6.5 inches.  Chadron,
    Nebraska
saw its second highest daily snowfall for
   January occur on this day in 1944 with 13.0 inches.

               On this date in 1902, bitter cold covered the area, with
   Scottsbluff, Nebraska recording a low of 29 degrees below
   zero.     

Jan. 28: On this day in 1891 Cheyenne was covered with 8.6 inches
    of snow.
