Cheyenne having one of its wettest Augusts on record.

What a difference a month makes!  After equaling the record for the driest July on record in Cheyenne, August is going in the record books as one of the wettest.  With only half the month gone, Cheyenne has already reached the mark for its third highest amount of precipitation on record for the month of August.

The table below shows the top ten wettest Augusts on record for Cheyenne, with records dating back to about 1875:

Rank	Value	Year
1	6.73 1930
2 6.64 1985
3 6.45 2008 *(as of 8:00 P.M. August 16)
4 4.33 1997
5 4.04 1927
6 3.98 1915
7 3.53 2008
8 3.18 1890
9 3.12 1961

As you can see, the monthly rainfall for August at the Cheyenne airport is approaching the second and first
place rankings, and with about half the month remaining, it is possible those levels will be attained.
