Model applications involve the technology transfer of new science, algorithms, and tools to the user comminuty to improve auir quality model simulations. These improved simulations inform decision makers, and when coupled with policy interpretations appropriate to the science applied, improve the quality of the decision. Model application also involves training users on the improved science, developing technical methodologies to make best use of the science to meet user needs, and advising users on properly interpreting results. In addition to improving the models applied to decision making, this effort strives to improve the quality of the input data and parameters, with special emphasis on the atmospheric and geographic data and parameters, and to ensure the interpretations and characterizations of the results comply with best-practice scientific principles.
