The American Society for Microbiology will hold its 109^th General Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from Sunday, May 17 to Thursday, May 21, 2009. Plan to attend all five days of a spectacular scientific program to be held in the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Consider staying through the weekend to explore Philadelphia, the original capitol of the United States and home of one of America's best dining and shopping experiences.

Premeeting workshops precede the meeting scheduled on Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17.

The scientific program will feature nearly 300 individual colloquia, symposia, roundtable discussions, award lectures, & poster sessions. The 27 Division Chairs & the General Meeting Program Committee have devoted their energies to creating a well-rounded program.

Each year students are offered an opportunity to compete for travel awards. Details may be found under the Call for Abstracts menu.

This year's schedule will begin on Sunday, May 17, 2009, at 5:00 pm with the presentation of scientific topics of general interest to the society. It will be followed by the ASM Lecture at 6:00 pm.
