Where to Start - Navigating the Early Intervention System

Accessing Services

County DDD contracts with a network of 14 different Early Intervention providers in King County. These providers:

  • have a history of providing services and supports to infants and toddlers and their families,
  • have the capacity to provide comprehensive Early Intervention services utilizing properly licensed and certified staff (Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Special Education Teachers, etc.),
  • and agree to provide services in compliance with the Federal law, Part C of IDEA.

Choice

The agencies are located geographically throughout King County to accommodate families in all areas of the County. An organization called Community Health Access Program (CHAP) can refer you to agencies based on your family’s unique needs. Your family may choose an Early Intervention service provider based on:

  • Provider expertise in a specific developmental area that is important to your child or family.
  • Provider location – Is it close to home/work/childcare?

  • Where your family feels most comfortable
