December 1: World AIDS Day

SPECIAL SIX-PART SERIES COMMEMORATES WORLD AIDS DAY

Monday, December 1, 2003 marks World AIDS Day. To commemorate World AIDS Day and the 20th anniversary of the discovery of HIV—the virus that causes AIDS—the NIH Radio News Service will air a special six-part series on HIV and AIDS research. During the series NIH researchers will discuss early AIDS cases, the vital role that NIH played in the discovery of HIV, initial attempts to develop therapies and vaccines, current HIV vaccine efforts, and research that may eventually lead to a better understanding of HIV and AIDS. The series will begin on Monday, December 1 at 9:00 a.m. and will continue through Monday, December 8 at 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time. Each segment runs approximately five minutes. You can access the series by calling our toll-free number, 1-800-MED-DIAL (1-800-633-3425), or downloading the audio through our Web site at: http://www.radiospace.com/nihhome.htm.
