Information for Researchers - Using the Library of Congress

State Government Documents

State laws are found in the Law Library. Proceedings and documents of state legislatures are found in the general collections. The most recent (usually the last year or two, but sometimes as much as the last five years) are in the Newspaper and Current Periodical Reading Room. Older issues are bound and can be requested by call number at the book service desk in the Center Room, Adams Building. Ask a reference librarian for assistance. Most other state government publications are cataloged as books or periodicals and can be located through the Library's general catalogs. The Newspaper and Current Periodical Reading Room has a collection of recent annual reports of state agencies, going back as much as three or four years.
