The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recognized as a leading federal agency for protecting the health and safety of people worldwide. CDC’s role is to provide credible information to promote health through strong partnerships and associated career paths. CDC’s mission is to promote a healthy quality of life by preventing and controlling diseases, injuries, and disabilities. CDC seeks to accomplish its mission by working with partners nationally and internationally to monitor, detect, and investigate health problems, conduct health-related research, develop and advocate sound public health policies, promote and foster healthy behaviors and environments, and provide leadership and training. Georgia Education Initiatives, Georgia Learning Connections, and Georgia Department of Education The Georgia Department of Education and Georgia Learning Connections (GLC) have formed partnerships, called Georgia Education Initiatives (GEI), among specialized nonprofit or government organizations (e.g., CDC) and educational groups (e.g., the National Science Center) to provide educational resources and programs for teachers. A section of GLC is dedicated to GEI.
