Press Marketplace 2007 Focuses on Energy Independence
Marketplace, North Dakotas signature economic development initiative, featured a keynote address by Gen. Chuck Wald, a national energy expert, as part of an ongoing series of prominent business speakers. Wald was invited to deliver the keynote address at Marketplace for Entrepreneurs by Senator Kent Conrad and Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson. Both Conrad and Johnson are proponents of public policy that would aggressively move the nation toward greater energy independence – the theme of Walds speech. “North Dakota can use its vast resources to reduce Americas dependence on foreign oil, keep energy prices affordable and grow our states economy with new, high-paying jobs,” said Senator Conrad and Commissioner Johnson. “Thats what Marketplace is all about: growing North Dakota from within.” Marketplace is North Dakotas largest and longest-running economic development conference. The event brought together hundreds of aspiring entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, corporations, universities, foundations and community and business leaders to exchange ideas, discuss the latest innovations and share skills and technology.
