The visitor center is open daily, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed December 25 and January 1.

The park grounds, including the paved river trail, remains accessible to visitors even when the visitor center is closed.

Did You Know?
The conditions at the federal jail at Fort Smith were so horrible that it received the nickname "Hell on the Border." Up to 50 men were crowded into one large cell with limited ventilation and poor sanitary conditions.
