The King County Rental Rehabilitation Loan Program

The King County Rental Rehabilitation Loan Program is designed to help preserve the existing stock of affordable rental housing and to keep it in a safe, decent and sanitary condition. Assistance is available in the form of a zero-interest; deferred payment loan for the following housing activity:

  • Emergencies: which render the unit uninhabitable, are life threatening or are a health concern including indoor environmental emergencies such as mold and lead paint remidiation;
  • Major structural / mechanical system repairs;
  • Access for persons with disabilities;
  • Building preservation repairs;
  • Energy conservation repairs.

Projects must provide affordable rental housing for households up to 50 percent of median income. Rent, including utilities, may not exceed the HOME program limits for tenants at 50% of median income. click here to view the income guidelines table. Non-profit and for-profit organizations are eligible to apply for these funds, which are available on a first-come basis, as long as funds are available.
