Q. Do livestock producers with contracts have other alternatives
for marketing their product?
A. The availability of an open-market

Poultry producers are less likely to have open-market alternatives
than are other livestock producers. In fact, 77 percent
of poultry producers, 58 percent of hog producers, and
44 percent of cattle producers who contracted did not
report any open-market alternative.
