Welcome to Ask WATERS, the Query Tool for Water!

Ask WATERS answers multi-program questions that draw on information from the databases linked through WATERS. This tool generates cross-program calculations, examines spatial relationships between programs, performs nationwide analyses, produces multi-program inventory reports for a given geographic area, and investigates interstate water quality issues.

Whatever you want to know, just Ask WATERS!

Ask WATERS Browser Requirements: To display subordinate report information, Ask WATERS uses the "pop-up" window capability. The newer versions of both Internet Explorer and Firebox browsers may block these pop-up windows. Normally, when this happens, an informational message will appear in the upper-left hand corner of the window. You have the option of accepting or turning on pop-ups from Ask WATERS. Without this feature being turned on, some features of Ask WATERS will not work. Step-by-step directions for turning on pop-ups from Ask WATERS are provided for Internet Explorer and Firefox. Also, Ask WATERS uses a Java Applet to dynamically generate complex graphs for some of the reports. For most older systems at EPA that use Windows 2000 or earlier operating systems, the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), which is needed to run the applet, is already installed. Due to a lawsuit between Microsoft and Sun, PCs that have the Windows XP operating system may not have the JRE. The JREExit EPA Disclaimer can be obtained from Sun. You may need to contact your IT support group to get it installed.
