Inpatient Hospital Payment Information for Value-Driven Health Care (8-19-08)

As part of his commitment to make health care more affordable and accessible, President Bush directed the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to make cost and quality data available to all Americans.  Among the various activities CMS has undertaken in response to this initiative, we began posting Medicare inpatient hospital payment and service volume data in June 2006.

Updates to the inpatient hospital payment and volume information are now being posted on the Department's Hospital Compare website and will no longer be posted on this website.  The Hospital Compare website can be accessed using the link in the related links area below. Later this summer and early fall CMS plans to post updated payment information on this website for common elective procedures of ambulatory surgery centers as well as common hospital outpatient and physician services.   

Below you will find the same inpatient hospital files that we posted the last two years using FY2005 and FY2006 data.  The files are large so printing them is not recommended.  As a reminder, our objective is to provide the basic information for consumers and others to use and analyze, at their discretion.  Consumers are encouraged to consult with their physicians if they have any questions about the procedures/codes contained in any of the files.  Please read the footnotes displayed on each table.  The footnotes contain important information about the data.
