Mayor Chávez and the City of Albuquerque are proud to be members of the Sky Blue program offered by the Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM).
City government has achieved the Mayor's goal of purchasing 20% of the total kWh usage in the form of wind generated electricity, which will reduce the City of Albuquerque's carbon footprint, greenhouse gas emissions, and fossil fuel usage. Learn more about energy >>
Because of the City's significant green power commitment the EPA has designated Albuquerque to be a Green Power partner. Albuquerque's support of technologies that are more sustainable for businesses and communities helps reduce risks associated with climate change.
Where is Our Wind Energy Made?
The wind energy used by the City of Albuquerque is created near Clovis, New Mexico. There are 136 turbines at the New Mexico Wind Energy Center on a field covering 9,600 acres. Each turbine is 210 feet tall -- that's taller than the El Morro National Monument!
