Office of FinanceMessage from the Deputy Chief Financial OfficerSheila Conley, Deputy Assistant Secretary, FinanceWelcome to the Office of Finance Home Page! The Department of Health and Human Services is committed to providing timely and accurate financial information to HHS managers and stakeholders, and to ensuring that our business processes are efficient and customer-driven. Here in HHS the collaboration of program and financial managers is key to our ability to manage programs successfully and provide accountability for the resources entrusted to us as a Department. HHS has made strides relative to the President's Management Agenda, including our progress in addressing such critical issues as reducing the occurrence of erroneous payments and improving our financial reporting management processes. The ongoing development and implementation of the Unified Financial Management System is the foundation for continued improvement in our financial management and reporting capabilities. Implementation of a Finance Home Page will allow access to information concerning the financial management activities and accomplishments of the Department. One of the best sources for this information is HHS' Performance and Accountability Report (PAR), which is prepared annually under the Reports Consolidation Act of 2000. The PAR is the Department's most comprehensive report on HHS operations, programs, finances, and performance. It includes the HHS annual financial statements and auditor's opinion, as well as the Department's report on performance, as required by the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA). The report, which is available through our Home Page, provides a comprehensive assessment of where we are and where we are going in financial management in HHS, as well as a single source of information about HHS financial management activities. We trust that the information contained in the report, and in the Finance Home Page as a whole will be interesting and useful to all. |
