Background
Lynn McComas began working in fisheries in 1978 at the University of Washington Fisheries Research Institute. He then worked at the Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute in Finland before joining NWFSC's Pasco research station in 1992. He has conducted numerous studies to evaluate and improve fish passage at federal hydroelectric projects on the Columbia River including the development of biological design and operational criteria for juvenile bypass systems wet separators and the evaluation of extended-length guidance screens and attendant vertical barrier screens. Lynn holds a B.A. in wildlife and fisheries resources from the University of Idaho, Moscow.
Current Research
Lynn serves as a Project Leader in FE's Fish Passage Program. He supervises three to 20 permanent and temporary staff annually. His current interests include using acoustic telemetry to develop estuarine survival estimates and near-shore ocean migratory patterns for juvenile salmonids.
