During a trip to Nicaragua, Engineers Without Borders members assessed water supplies and built slow-sand water filtration systems for two children’s feeding centers. “Through the process, the students became better engineers, and so did I,” said Lian-Shin Lin, civil and environmental engineering assistant professor.

The P.I. Reed School of Journalism partnered with the National Press Club to present "The Bloggers, the Campaign and the Future of Journalism," a public forum to be held in Washington, D.C., and Morgantown. The venues were linked via satellite to allow participation at both sites.

WVU Press has proven it can compete with powerhouse publishers like W.W. Norton and Harvard University Press. The Potomac Canal, which was ForeWord Magazine’s Silver Winner in the history category, is among WVU Press titles that have received prestigious awards in recent months.

Head football coach Bill Stewart greeted thousands of WVU sports fans – including members of the Mountaineer Maniacs student group – at the annual FanFest pep rally. ESPN The Magazine recently ranked WVU’s student section as the third-most-spirited student section in the nation.
