This family was only recently described (Boucek and Noyes 1987). It is very poorly known.
STATISTICS: This is a small family with only one genus
and about 3 species (only one described, basalis Boucek and Noyes)
(Boucek 1988).
BIOLOGY: Unknown .
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERS: This group is unique in having
14 segmented antennae. Females have a distinct 6 segmented antennal club.
The wing has a transverse basal vein, and the tari are 4-segmented.
COLLECTING: Sweeping or malaise traps.
DISTRIBUTION: New Zealand.
