NRCS Employees Receive Society for Range Management (SRM) Awards

Society for Range Management logoFour NRCS employees were recently recognized at the SRM 58th annual meeting, in Fort Worth, Texas. Outstanding Achievement Awards, recognizing individual achievement in any range management-related area, were presented to Dr. Larry Butler, State Conservationist in Texas; George Chavez, State Rangeland Management Specialist in New Mexico; and Tamara DeCock, District Conservationist in Montana. Stanley Boltz, Rangeland Management Specialist in South Dakota received NRCS’s 2004 Rangeland Management Specialist of the Year. The Society for Range Management is a professional scientific society and conservation organization whose members are concerned with studying, conserving, managing, and sustaining the varied resources of the rangelands which comprise nearly half the land in the world. Established in 1948, SRM has over 4,000 members in 48 countries, including many developing nations.
