Peace Corps

Spotlight on Educational Technology

Along with a new website, World Wise Schools has rolled out a couple of new technology initiatives: podcasts and slide shows.

Podcasts

Podcasts, a type of free audio magazine, offer stories written and read by Peace Corps Volunteers on a weekly basis. Among hundreds of compelling Peace Corps writers and their stories, finding the Peace Corps authors to record their stories was a delightful project. The authors read vibrant stories about carrying water in Mali, curiosity in Bulgaria, basketball in Guatemala, and teaching science in Nepal, lending immediacy and sentiment to the words.

Slide Shows

With their slides, photo albums, or PowerPoint presentations, returned Peace Corps Volunteers have long enjoyed sharing their experiences with friends, families, and community groups and schools. A new online feature from World Wise Schools offers these presentations in five-minute segments:

And More!

World Wise Schools also has online videos from Lesotho to Sri Lanka to Honduras, highlighting local customs and volunteer service. Also, take a look at the poster gallery with classroom decorations for Earth Day, Women’s History Month, World Kindness Week, and many others. All this and more in the World Wise Schools website’s multimedia section.
