Location
is a foundation of the real estate market. A Geographic Information System
can be used to discern and graphically display patterns that are based
on location. Such information is useful when reviewing regional markets
and in the analysis of specific micro-neighborhoods and industries.
This
presentation map depicts real estate sales between 2000 and 2003 for east
Seattle. The aerial photo background provides a locational reference for
the viewer, against which patterns can be seen when sales are stratified
by price. An additional distinction was made between residential and commercial
properties.
The map was produced
by GIS staff in the King County Department of Assessments. Visitors to
GIS Day 2003 in King County selected this map for the People's Choice
Award. |
