Connect to GSA at the E-Gov ExpositionGSA # 9499 July 2, 1998 WASHINGTON, DC -- To learn why the General Services Administration is a leader in electronic commerce, visit the GSA exhibit at the National Electronic Government (E-Gov) Exposition '98. You will be able to personally use technology at GSA's interactive exhibits and see how easily you can connect to people, hardware, software, schedules, and offices anywhere. The Exposition is free and is open from 10 am to 6 pm on Wednesday, July 8, and 10 am to 4 pm on Thursday, July 9. The Exposition is part of the E-Gov '98 Conference which runs July 7-9, 1998. Conference cost and registration information is available on the Internet at www.e-gov.com. GSA supports Federal agencies and vendors by pioneering smart card technology; developing Internet and other technology solutions, such as GSA Advantage!� online shopping and payment services; providing reliable, cost-effective ADP equipment through GSA schedules; and supporting the effort to establish an electronic benefits transfer system. Devoted exclusively to the delivery of government services in a digital world, the E-Gov '98 Exposition features hundreds of new information technology solutions that have made successful public and private-sector reengineering possible "GSA is pioneering the use of technologies that will give citizens control: they will find what they need, they'll have interactive contact, and tap into real-time information and data," said G. Martin Wagner, Associate Administrator of GSA's Office of Governmentwide Policy. "The divisions between federal, state, and local government will be seamless and citizens won't have to be experts to find information"" Wagner will deliver the first keynote speech, "Understanding the Transformation to Electronic Government" on Tuesday, July 7. Ida Ustad, Deputy Associate Administrator of the OGP Office of Acquisition Policy will participate in a panel discussion on electronic catalogs, Wednesday, July 8. Tony Trenkle, Director of the OGP Office of Electronic Commerce, co-chairs a track on electronic commerce for the E-Gov conference. E-Gov '98 is expected to attract information technology buyers and specifiers from federal, state, county and municipal governments around the nation.
