Jackson Appointed Chief of Staff at GSAGSA # 9839 June 21, 2001 WASHINGTON, D.C. - Administrator Stephen A. Perry today named Brian Allan Jackson as Chief of Staff at the U.S. General Services Administration. Mr. Jackson previously served as Deputy Associate Administrator in GSA's Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs. As the number three official at GSA, Mr. Jackson will be responsible for carrying out a variety of important assignments in connection with the management and activities of GSA. He will work collaboratively with the Administrator, Deputy Administrator and staff in the immediate Office of the Administrator to provide leadership and guidance in the conduct of special long- and short-range management studies of major concern to the Administrator. "I am excited about this challenging opportunity," said Mr. Jackson. "I'm honored at the confidence the Administrator has placed in me and I look forward to working with him to make GSA the highest performance organization it can be. I'm also thrilled to serve President Bush's Administration in this capacity." Prior to joining GSA, Mr. Jackson served as the Senior Legislative Assistant to former U.S. Representative and House Budget Committee Chairman John Kasich. Mr. Jackson provided key policy advice on a range of legislative issues and directed special legislative projects and coalitions for Chairman Kasich. Mr. Jackson also served as Chairman Kasich's Budget Associate, working with committee members and staff to develop policy proposals. In addition, Mr. Jackson drafted several pieces of legislation, including the Internet Tax Elimination Act. Mr. Jackson also served as an aide to former Congressman Frank Cremeans, for whom he served as liaison to local governments and industries for natural resources issues. A graduate of the University of Alabama, Mr. Jackson earned a bachelor of arts, magna cum laude, in economics. Mr. Jackson is a member of several academic honor societies including Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. Mr. Jackson currently resides in Washington, D.C. and is a member of St. Alban's Parish, where he is active in feeding ministries sponsored by the church and is a member of the Africa Roundtable. Mr. Jackson is involved in several other local organizations including the University of Alabama Alumni Association, National Capital Chapter. GSA is a centralized federal procurement and property agency responsible for providing office space, supplies and services for the federal government. GSA operates and manages 1,800 government-owned buildings and 6,500 leased buildings while playing a key role in procuring and managing the government's massive inventory of computer and telecommunications equipment and services. Since its creation in 1949, the agency has evolved from a mandatory supplier of space and products for federal civilian agencies to a non-mandatory provider of competitively-priced, high-quality office space, commercial products and military and civilian workforce solutions.
