FTS ANSWER Contracts Increase 300% in Second Year21 Agencies Place 600 Task Orders Worth $250 MillionGSA # 9758 October 26, 2000 Washington, DC - Twenty-one federal agencies placed 600 task orders worth $250 million during FY 2000 under the Federal Technology Service ANSWER contracts, the U.S. General Services Administration has announced. ANSWER, short for Applications 'n Support for Widely-diverse End User Requirements, completed its second year in FY 2000 with a business growth increase of more than 300 percent over the previous fiscal year. ANSWER is a governmentwide multiple award/indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity contract. "The FTS vision of providing world-class services and solutions for the 21st century is embodied in these ANSWER contracts," said Bob Suda FTS Assistant Commission for the Office of Information Technology Solutions. "ANSWER echoes the mission of FTS by providing Information Technology solutions that deliver the best value and innovation to support client missions worldwide." FTS awarded the ANSWER contracts with a potential total value of $25 billion over a 10-year period to 10 prime companies on December 30, 1998. These contracts -- designed to be a "gold standard" for IT services -- were awarded to the following premier service providers: Anteon Corporation, Booz-Allen and Hamilton Inc., Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), DynCorp, EER Systems (large, woman-owned), Information Systems Support (ISS) Inc. (small disadvantaged business, 8(a)), Information Technology Services (ITS) Corp. (small business), Litton/PRC, Logicon Inc., and Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC). "ANSWER enables FTS to fulfill its customer needs by providing IT solutions in any country," said Ann Gladys, director of the FTS ANSWER Solutions Development Center. "Through these contracts we can address every IT challenge, no matter how esoteric and we can do it over a full decade." Through ANSWER, FTS provides clients stability and continuity in the face of today's highly volatile and rapidly changing technological environment by providing services and support for almost every conceivable IT requirement and by providing for the nearly continuous technological refreshment so necessary in a technological environment. "The overall scope of the contracts covers the gamut in IT," said Gladys. "This includes requirements and design research, analysis and development, software maintenance, and facilities management support services for business, scientific and engineering applications. And it brings to bear the skills and talents necessary for executive management, and acquisition expertise so inherent to extensive IT projects.
