GSA Awards Seat Management Task Order for Peace CorpsGSA #9674 April 20, 2000 Washington D.C. -- On behalf of the Peace Corps, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has awarded a task order to provide seat management services to 885 Peace Corps users. The task order was awarded to Federal Data Corporation (FDC) of Bethesda, MD. The value of the contract is $16.9 million over a five year period. "I'm pleased that our partnership with the Peace Corps has resulted in a successful task order award to FDC," said Steve Berg, Director of GSA's FEDCAC. "The Peace Corps requirement adds a new worldwide dimension to seat offerings." The Peace Corps is the fifth federal agency to use GSA's seat management contract. Seat management indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contracts provide a full spectrum of computing services as performance based service rather than traditional labor hour contracting. From the time the task was released to the vendors to award the entire cycle required only eight weeks. "The service encompasses the full distributed computing environment," said Peace Corps Chief Information Officer Doug Greene. "Seat management will allow the agency to concentrate resources on mission critical activities." FDC will provide seat management to Peace Corps users as they migrate from an Apple Macintosh environment to a Wintel environment. This award demonstrates the flexibility of the seat management contracts to accommodate requirements of varying scope and size, with distributed computing environment growth potential for Department of Defense components, or civilian Federal government agencies. The seat management process gives all eight (8) seat management contractors an opportunity to bid on each task order requirement. Award is made on a best value where the technical solution is more important the price. For more information, contact Thomas Crowder, at (703) 605-9814, or tom.crowder@gsa.gov. Index of News Releases
