GSA Opens 2007 GovEnergy ConferenceForum Celebrates 10 Years with Spotlight on Helping Feds Reduce Energy Use, Costs GSA # 10380 August 6, 2007 MaryAnne Beatty (202) 501-1231 New Orleans – The 2007 GovEnergy Conference, geared to help federal agencies reduce energy use and costs and to meet requirements outlined in the Energy Policy Act of 2005, opens today, the U.S. General Services Administration announced. GSA is a co-sponsor of the event with the Departments of Defense, Energy, Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security as well as the Environmental Protection Agency. “GSA, in accordance with President Bush’s directive and our national goal of energy independence, makes available a wide assortment of environment-friendly goods, services and workspace,” said GSA Administrator Lurita Doan. “As the federal government’s premier acquisition agency, I urge all agencies to learn more about our offerings at this conference and allow GSA to help them meet their environmental goals.” Now in its 10th year, the GovEnergy conference is typically attended by federal, state, and local energy managers as well as others involved in energy management. By attending, they gain the opportunity to benefit from available training sessions, networking and educational credits. Nearly 200 experts from around the country participate in the event, sharing their experiences, knowledge and ideas with attendees. More than 80 sessions cover everything from renewables, metering strategies and new technology during the 2007 GovEnergy conference; however, the event also features a multi-million dollar showcase of products, equipment, and services from more than 100 companies and consultants. Hundreds of manufacturers are expected to display and share the latest technology advances in the energy efficiency industry. The 2007 GovEnergy conference also includes nine tracks for energy and facility professionals, including such sessions as: Improving Building Operations; Finance & Funding; Gumbo; Legislation, Policy & Leadership; Metering; Procurement - and All That Jazz; Renewable Energy; Strategy & Tactics; and New Technology. ### Founded in 1949, GSA serves as a centralized procurement and property management agency for the federal government.
