FSS Deputy Commissioner Gray to RetireGSA # 10165 June 3, 2005 Washington, DC – The U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA) Federal Supply Service (FSS) Deputy Commissioner, Les Gray, is retiring June 3, 2005, after 34 years of government service. “Les has been my partner in directing the activities of our 3,000 associates for nearly five years,” said FSS Commissioner Donna Bennett. "He represents the finest attributes of the career civil servant.” Mr. Gray has served as FSS Deputy Commissioner for nearly five years. He first joined GSA in 1971 in the National Capital Region’s Administrative Services Office and has spent most of his federal career serving in various leadership positions in the FSS Fleet Program. He also served as Director of FSS’ Property Management Program. “I have enjoyed my career at GSA, in particular, working with the associates of FSS,” said Deputy Commissioner Les Gray. “I look forward to the next chapter and maintaining these friendships that I have made at GSA.” GSA is a centralized, federal procurement, property management and policy agency, created by Congress to improve government efficiency and help federal agencies better serve the public. GSA acquires, on behalf of federal agencies, office space, equipment, telecommunications, information technology, supplies and services. It also plays a key role in developing and implementing governmentwide policies. GSA’s 13,000 associates provide services and solutions for the office operations of more than one million federal workers in more than 8,000 buildings the government owns and leases in 2,000 U.S. communities.
