photo of Elsa ReichmanisDr. Reichmanis is currently Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Prior to joining Georgia Tech she was Bell Labs Fellow and the Director, Materials Research at Alcatel-Lucent. She received her PhD and BS degrees from Syracuse University. Her Bell Labs service includes Member of Technical Staff, Organic Chemistry Research and Development (1978); Technical Manager, Radiation Sensitive Materials and Applications (1984); and Director, Polymer and Organic Materials Research (1994).

Dr. Reichmanis’ current research programs include chemistry, properties and applications of polymeric materials with emphasis on the design of new materials concepts for electronic and photonic applications; and design of novel self-assembled hybrid materials structures for photonic and electronic applications. She has also contributed to programs aimed at the design of ultra low-dielectric constant materials, and has developed materials systems and processes for the fabrication of organic semiconductor devices via additive printing methodologies.

Her awards/memberships in professional societies include President of the American Chemical Society, 2003, 2001 Perkin Medal; 1999 American Chemical Society Award in Applied Polymer Science; 1998 Photopolymer Science and technology Award; 1996 ASM Engineering Materials Achievement Award; 1995 National Academy of Engineering; 1993 Society of Women Engineers Achievement Award; Fellow American Association for the Advancement of Science; Past member of Air Force Science Advisory Board; and Member, American Chemical Society, Materials Research Society, SPIE. She has served on several National Research Council committees including the National Materials Advisory Board and the Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology which she co-chaired.
