WASHINGTON – U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Acting Administrator David Bibb received an award for excellence in leadership of green initiatives from AFCEA’s (Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association) Bethesda Chapter.  The award was announced at the group’s first annual Governmentwide Initiatives Excellence Awards Ceremony at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel.

Awards were presented to 13 individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to governmentwide initiatives.  Bibb received the Special Governmentwide Initiatives Excellence Award for Sustained Excellence in the Leadership of Governmentwide Initiatives and Improving our Environment through Governmentwide “Green” Initiatives.

“GSA has an on-going commitment to preserving our environment,” Bibb said. “This award honors that commitment and validates the confidence placed in us by our customer agencies.”

Fred Schobert, Chief Technology Officer of GSA’s Integrated Technology Services, was also recognized with an award for Excellence in Governmentwide Procurement Initiatives.  Schobert is a key leader in providing encryption security for laptop computers across the government.
