NIST Standard Reference Database 49CYCLE_D: NIST Vapor Compression Cycle Design Program: Version 3.0
Computationally, CYCLE_D is fully compatible with REFPROP 7.0 and covers the 39 pure fluids that are available in REFPROP 7.0. Fluids can be used in mixtures comprising up to five components. CYCLE_D operates in a user-friendly WindowsTM environment to facilitate evaluating the performance of selected working fluids at different operating conditions. CYCLE_D is a simulation program for the vapor compression cycles that use single-component refrigerants or mixtures of refrigerants. The system simulated by CYCLE_D consists of a compressor, discharge line, condenser, expansion device, evaporator, compressor, suction line, and an optional liquid line/suction line heat exchanger. The compressor can be represented either the compressor efficiency or compressor maps provided by the user.
The user of the program specifies the refrigerant and the above hardware components except the expansion device (the expansion process is assumed to be isenthalpic). The user can also input the parasitic power of the indoor fan, outdoor fan, and control unit of the system. Note: Cycle_D 3.0 is designed to accept only period "." as decimal point regardless of the settings on the user's system. You may browse the Users' Guide to see how this database works. System Requirements: IBM-compatible personal computers capable of running MS-WindowsTM 95, 98, 2000, NT 4.0, ME and XP; hard disk with 4.0 MB available space is required.
