Accession Number

Searching by Accession Number is a quick means to find a document for which you already have an accession number.

Every document has two accession numbers. The LSN Accession Number is assigned by the LSN system and is unique across all the document collections comprising the LSN. The Participant Accession Number is assigned by the participant and, therefore, may not be unique if two or more participants use the same numbering scheme. In this case, the search results will return two (or more) documents because they share the same Participant Accession number.

Participant Accession Numbers can often be obtained from reference lists found in documents.

To search by accession number, enter the number in one of the two accession number fields as appropriate, Participant Accession Number or LSN Accession Number. The number must be entered exactly as it is presented in the source. Every character must match the original accession number for the search to be successful. After entering the accession number, click Search, and the matching document will be returned.
