Description:
The Council on Education of the Deaf (CED) is a national professional organization responsible for setting and implementing policy related to education of deaf and hard-of-hearing students in schools. This includes setting certification and accreditation standards, certifying teachers, and evaluating university teacher preparation programs for accreditation approval. Established in 1930, CED has fostered cooperative networks in the field of education of deaf students. The CED board is composed of
representatives from its seven member organizations, which are identified on the CED Web site. Professional online publications, application forms,and standards and manuals are available.
