Energy Management Initiative Implementation Plan and Related Materials
This national bulletin discuss how Energy costs has increased significantly over
the last few years and are likely to remain at historically high levels for some
time. Many farmers and ranchers commented during the USDA Farm Bill Listening
Sessions on the adverse impact of higher energy-related costs on their
operations. NRCS has taken an early and aggressive approach to addressing the
energy cost concerns of farmers and ranchers. Many conservation practices,
including residue management, nutrient management, and irrigation water
management among others, not only provide environmental benefits, but they can
also significantly reduce on-farm energy use and production costs. In short,
there is a growing opportunity to provide financial and technical assistance
that can save producers energy and money, while improving the conservation of
other natural resources.
