Help Plan Our City!
Lodi’s centennial in 2006 presents a rare opportunity to reflect on our efforts and successes over the years... to celebrate the City, build a sense of community, reinforce its identity, and pay tribute to our roots, our home, and our hopes for the future. 
When the community last gathered to create a new vision for the City in 1989, a plan was adopted to create the “Livable, Lovable Lodi” that we know today. These efforts have helped preserve the City’s small town charm and agricultural gems, revitalize our now vibrant historic downtown, built new neighborhoods and parks, attracted new businesses and industries, while maintaining a compact urban form surrounded by agricultural uses and open space. In effect, the Lodi area has emerged as the largest grape-growing region in the state — with more than 75,000 acres — and international reputation for our Zinfandel variety.

Today, we enjoy the fruits of the previous plan that has guided the city’s development over the past 15 years. While we can be proud that many Plan objectives have been achieved, new opportunities, challenges, and approaches have emerged. Now, at the historic centennial milestone, you have the chance to sow the seeds for Lodi’s future. The new General Plan will allow us to revisit the City’s goals and visions, paint a picture of what the future of how the City should look, and outline the steps and policies to get there.
